When we first saw Avena on the Kastdemur website, she was SO beautiful we were taken by her immediately and just had to order a buck. We knew that we were second on the list, but happily for us Avena had 2 bucks and Avalanche came to live with us! It was really something to be able to see Avena in person last summer at the 2012 National Show. She is just incredible, and to see her become National Grand Champion was the icing on the cake! It is quite exciting to see that Avalanche now has 3 National GCH's in his pedigree!

Avalanche is a beautiful boy, so long and tall, flat boned and dairy, with that same long bone pattern of his dam, Avena. We loved his first kid crop last spring, and now that we have our first Avalanche daughter fresh we are so impressed!!! Azure is beautiful, she is everything we had hope for and even more! Torie freshened this spring with a fantastic udder and even won a BUIS as a first freshener this season! Her sister Tasha also freshened with a beautiful udder but unfortunately had some mastitis issues after freshening. We treated her and ended up drying her off, hoping next year she will freshen and be fine.

Avalanche has become even more than we had ever hoped for in a buck. His daughters are beautiful, they have lovely, well attached udders, lots of milk and they are strong in type. A few other things I want to share about his daughters too, that still just amaze me! They are tough girls. They carry kids, even quads, like it is nothing. They kid and keep right on eating, they never miss a beat. They milk like crazy, go to the shows and after being bagged up they come home and keep right on milking like they never went anywhere! Everyone one we have freshened so far is like that, they are my kind of does! Nothing is worse than having them be so needy especially after kidding, when they wont eat for days. Avalanche has become a truly amazing individual and we cannot thank Karen Senn and Krista Myers for entrusting him to us!

We are so sad to say that this wonderful buck is no longer with us. He did not do well after coming out of rut and we tried hard to get him to make a comeback but it just wasn't to be. I still miss his sweet face begging for cookies at the fence. We were truly blessed to have had him in our herd.
